“studying at Rotterdam School of Management as a foreign student”

Évaluation globale
I cam to the Netherlands to study International Business for Asia in 2019. It is an experience which I do not regret!
The study program can be chaotic, which is the feedback from most of my fellow students. However, the content that is taught is very useful in order to understand and be prepared for the Asian business world. The school in general is very helpful towards foreign students, which makes a lot easier. The campus is currently not very inviting as the actual building is getting renovated and the temporary building is shared with an insurance agency, therefore the studentlife vibe is not really present.

Pourquoi?
You get to know other people (living in the same building) that are living a similar experience (students) than yours and learn to share your thoughts, feelings and experiences with them making this a very important learning experience.

Commentaire personnel
I lived in Erasmus International House in Rotterdam, house for 220 students from all over the world. I shared kitchen and bathroom with two other students (one argentinian and one nezelander) but had my individual room.
The building is very well situated, ten-minute walk from the Univeristy, surrounded by shops. It has easy access to public transport: metro and tram.

Recommandations de cours
In the International Exchange/CEMS degree programme we were both undergraduate, graduate, and even MBA students. -Making it impossible to have courses that suit everyone...
Do take the three week Dutch course... A funny language but also an excellent opportunity for meeting other persons than the ones in your programme during the semester, and for doing a lot of sight seeing and settling in before getting serious.

From the classes I was not very impressed with the academic level. Luckily I took part in a very interesting business project, which greatly improves my overall assesment of the semester.

Critères importants pour mon choix

Recommandation personnelle
Get ready for a hard-core theory semester with many research papers to read! If you like it more general and applied (practical) then choose antoher university (e.g. St. Gallen, ESADE or HEC). The CEMS programme is tough there and involves exposure to quite a high stress level for most of the semester.

The Dutch students are very nice and open for friendships. It is very easy to find new friends! Unfortunately my programme was so tough that I did not really have much time for social life and traveling.
