Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Part of experiencing French culture is dealing with Parisian landlords and living in one of the many 'historic' buildings. Even though landlords might be a hassle, it is a genuine part of parisian culture, and much better than living in a stereotypical dorm facility.

The university does not help students find housing, however I did not find it difficult to locate an apartment. Students should allow themselves around 2 weeks to look for an apartment.

Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I stayed not with a family, but with a very well-to-do woman in a palatial apartment in one of the most exclusive areas of Paris. One the one hand, I was exposed to many, many cultural and social experiences that most exchange students never even come close to; on the other hand, I often felt a bit isolated from my fellow students.

Why?
I was able to meet people (Parisians) outside of my school programme. Living on my own allowed me to socialise more freely and meet locals.

I found good independent housing. I cannot comment about where other students lived, except that they seemed to be overcharged for what they received.

If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
Because Paris is a huge city so living in a campus could facilitate a faster inclusion in the student life of the University

The University does not offer special services for students but to find a flat is quite easy trough the announcement at the university and in the newspaper

Students need to manage to find housing on their own, support from univerity is limited, and consists mainly in advice from senior students
