Life in general is still a lot cheaper in China than in Europe or the US but if you want to you can spend extraordinarily big sums of money, too (if you don't speak the language Chinese might take advantage of that and charge higher prices!)

it's cheaper to rent an apartment with colleagues (150 eur/month) instead of staying at the campus (230 eur/month). if you just stay for one semester than try to apply for a F visa, in this case you don't need a physical examination.
