my accommodation in germany was really cheap, but this was for reason of luck, usually the price level is the same. the nightlife in spain is a lot cheaper than in germany because the drinks are less expensive and with more alcoholic content than in germany and in general you don´t pay entrance in spanish pubs and bars. there you can dance and so it is not necessary to go to a disco to dance which is common in germany and overall there you have to pay high entrances. what about my travel costs? i think it´s obviously that you travel a lot more in a foreign country than you would usually do in your own country. that´s why my travel costs have been higher.

using the public bus system you can save a lot of money in comparison to german cars ( which is the cheapest way to travel there ). they offer a flexible timetable and a very good service.

Dont ring mobile phones, and use your home bank account- when withdrawing money withdraw as much as possible at a time to minimise bank charges.

It is so inexpensive to do EVERYTHING in Spain! Travel is so economical...there were many times when it was a few dollars more to fly than opt for a 15 hour bus ride somewhere. Most clothes are cheaper than at home and it was nice when I was there that the tax is included in the price on the tag...easier than in the U.S.

Plan on spending money to use the computers/internet at "Internet Cafes". Computers at the university are veryhard to find and always occupied. The up-side to going to the Internet Cafes-it's a great place to meet other foreigners from all over Europe. There was never a time when you went into one that there wasn't someone who you had seen before in classes or out at night.

Open a bank account in Spain. You get chrged loads every time you lift money from your account at home even though your home account is accessible from all the cashpoints.
