This is a very good program for learning/improving one's spanish language. I also recommend staying with a family instead of the Residential life.

Drink lots of water. Enjoy the people and the culture. Bring some dressier clothes, camera, adequate cash, etc. have a money belt; meet people;

I was very fortunate to live in Salamanca when it was the culture capital of Europe. There was always something interesting happening. My favorite night spots include Bar Segundo, Bar Country, Irish Rover, and Morgana. Because Salamanca is a university city there is a variety of bars and discos geared for the college student...something for everyone.
