My accomodations were ideal. A 20-minute walk from the university which required my passing through important sites of the host city and a host family that made my experience truely an enriching experience.
the courses SECE are ridiculous.if you want to do absolutely nothing these classes are for you!

treat the exchange students equally with respect to non-exchange students. this year was by far the easiest year i have ever had.i would have liked it to be a little more intense.
I wanted to see other parts of Europe and Africa so my travel expense was a bit greater than that at home.

Stay away from "home food" it is a better cultural experience and cheaper to stave away from imported food establishments. ie. McDonalds, Pans & Co., Pizza Hut, etc...
All living expenses in Spain were cheaper than in Ireland.

No financial surprises other than that everything was significantly cheaper. The only cost saving tip I could give would be not to eat out in tourist areas (city centre, Santa Cruz, all along the river....) because those areas are all more expensive. Also the Mercadona supermarkets tend to be the cheapest.
