Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
An appartment where I'm living is for 6 people, during these time, I had different portuguese, african and other european roomates. The relationships in the house are really good, I've met so many diffrent people and with that I learned how to deal with diffrent people in all kind of situations in best possible way. Also, when we have problems with the house we have to deal with it more or less by our selves, which gives you a feeling of certain independence.

You have to have real luck to find a good and cheap apartment in Lisbon. I had luck with low price of the rent, but the apartment is quite old, so things are breaking all the time. Since the people in the house get a long well and since the location suits me perfectly and cause of our big terrace, I never thought about changing the apartment.

I woud choose again an apartment to life because it allows me to share my international experience with other "international" people in an independent way... and I would have to learn how to manage on my own, again!

There is a Social Service to advice students about how to get an accomodation but what they offered us/me was living with a family, which didn´t fit with was I wanted.

It was relatively easy to find a room, however, some rooms were too expensive considering the size. All rooms were furnitured (which is necessary when a student only spends 6 months in a different country). Overall, I am satisfied about accomodation in Lisbon.

I had problems with the landlady, she was a bit strange and she was living with us, but that wasn't host university's fault. However, it's not easy to find a house in Lisbon and I have to thank the secretary of the Erasmus office who helped me a lot in my search.
