I wish I had known...

I had a lot of info about St.Gallen before chosing it. Would there be one thing, I might have chosen to arrive one week earlier in order to settle more conveniently and arrange things before the academic semester started.

In my opinion:

If you do finance as a specialization St.Gallen is the best place. Very good profesors, lecturers, resources and motivated students.

“Great experience at world-class business school HSG”

Overall

Amazing but intense MBF program; globally top ranked. Business school has fantastic network; especially finacial services and tier 1 consultants and places internationaly. The whole cohort successfully moved into FS and consulting roles in Switzerland, London, Frankfurt and Singapore. Strong alumni network.

Student life is not comparable to a campus uni in the US but not less enjoyable. There are plenty of activities; nice bar scene, sport clubs and overall the scenery around St Gallen is stunning.

If you have the chance to study at HSG I would highly recommend to go for it.

Pros

Strong, international reputation of university; strong industry network, strong academics, beautiful town and scenery, in the center of Europe.

Cons

Switzerland is rather expensive

Overall

The University of St.Gallen equips its graduates with a strong all-round knowledge on all areas touching business, ranging from administration to business or tax law. In addition to a general introduction to relevant business themes, students indeed have the opportunity to delve deeper into individual themes of their choice. Specializations vary between the different majors, and the different masters chosen. Possible specializations include Business Administration, Finance, Banking & Finance, Business Law, or International Affairs.

Located in a relatively small town; Relatively expensive living costs;

Overall

A great reputation throughout German speaking Europe and beyond. The University is small enough to offer personalized study experience for anyone. Many interesting courses are offered.

That in this part of Switzerland winter lasts until the beginning of June - not joking, there was still snow...

Final comments

Travel as much as possible within the country (useful to go by car as not too big distances but expensive train tickets): Zürich, Luzern, Bern, Lausanne, Genf, Lugano, Bodensee, etc. Weekend shopping in Konstanz or Bregenz for affordable prices.
