Ayres Rock and St James Pub are a big hit with the international crowd. There is a really cool Brazilian place (with really strong drinks) in Vieux Lyon. I tried to stay away from the floating clubs like the Fish.

Though classes helped to some extent, I cannot honestly say that that is where I learned French. I learned it in people's homes, in the streets, in cafes, copiously reading news and books, and oh yes watching TV.

I learned a lot of French while I was in France. Watching TV, seeing movies, reading books and the newspapers really helped. There's was plenty of things to talk about and plenty of time to talk about things.

The campus is alright if you know who lives in the other rooms. The apartment gives you more independence. But it costs much more!

The campus in which I live (the "Résidence Allix") is far from my university: there are 2000 students living here but we all have to take a bus and then a tram or a metro to get there.
