The difficulty of finding accommodation.

Expect the worse in everything - that way you'll either be pleasantly surprised or ready to deal with difficult situations.

Accomodation in Paris is just expensive but to have this apartment in the centre paid off. Of course, Paris heavily depends on Tourism and is one of the most visited places on earth. Therefore, nightlife and generally going out is expensive. Travelling in France is somewhat cheaper, the railway is not as privatized as in Germany and the public transport system in Paris costs the same as in Hamburg for students but is far better!

I think the foyer situation was ideal. Really I lived in a magnificent area on Boulevard Saint Michel right across from the Luxembourg Gardens. In terms of bang for my buck I don't think I could have done any better!
