You should also try out the small local bars in your neighbourhood. The best food you get at the local food courts, or small hidden shops, and generally the food in Malaysia is very good. When you want to get away from the city life, Lankawi island is only a short distance away. Perenthian islands on the north east coast, on the other hand, are more complicated to reach, but a place one shouldn't miss. It is quiet and really beautiful with good places for going snorkelling or diving.
