Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Hillhead is crammed with youngish(17-18 year olds) students who realy like to party. If that's your goal, Hillhead is your place, if you prefer to live with a little more mature students, a flat from somewhere else will be better(and cheaper, is most cases)

Personal comments
Housing was rather okay, considering. The campus flats are quite old and rather run down. Rooms are a little cold during the winter but the staff is very friendly and helpful and overall its not too bad.

I think the experience was very positive to imporve my English but not I expected.
My English improved a lot bacause I was spoken English quite often, but there were a lot of people from Germany, Italy, France, Portugal and Spain.
However there were a lot of people from USA, England, Scotland, South Africa so I heart a lot of different types of English.

I wish I had known...
There's quite a lot of Finnish people in here both as exhange students and those doing an entire degree. Not entirely a bad thing but one might end up hanging too much in ones own company. Then again, that is what generally happens with every nationality.

Professors and lecturers are extremely helpful and academically, I feel that I got quite a lot out of my studies. I warmly recommend the University I you are not very advanced in your studies(I went on my 2/3 year).

Everybody knows about the Amadeus, a 20-minute busride away from campus, where pints are at 1 pound on Mondays.
There are of course plenty of pubs in town, some organising special events, etc.
For freezing winternights, go to the campus' pub (forgot the name : "7th hole" or something like that), very nice as well...

Personal recommendation
Although this university may suit other caucasian students on brief exchange(ERASMUS).I would strongly recommend african/Black/Asian students to stay away. The lecturers and students seemed to be caught up in a time warp and carried some nasty stereo types of black people.A minor incident may illustrate the mindset; The final year students held a going away party, invite everyone else bar the 3 ethnic minority students. Then they have the gall to hang up the pics all over the department!
Most of the computer science seemed to carry some visceral hatred(fear) of black people. This prevented the establishment of any meaningfull rapport between student and lecturer. The other students seemed to take cue from their lecturers.2 words STAY AWAY.

If you are an overseas/african student you will be well advised to go to a university with a significant ethnic minority representation or be prepared to be racially discriminated or thoroughly exoticised like some wild animal!

Academic
Course recommendations
You can't take 3000 and 4000 level couress with 1000 and 2000 levels. In addition they only offer one section of each course a semester and so many courses timetable out other courses.
