Go to all of your lectures, work what you have to work, do the task you have to do.
Do not hesitate to ask for some help to people working at the university because they are very kind.
Enjoy this host university, and have fun!

I wish I had known...
It would have been helpful to know a little more upon arrival about the academic system here in the UK. It's a lot different from the American system and you're completely on your own to find out what's going on...it's easy to be completely clueless as to what you're meant to be doing.

Although it's not the most beautiful city in England (and a bit rough in parts), there are plenty of things in Hull (clubs, societies, nightlife, etc.) to make studying here a worthwhile experience. Unless you join activities or live with British students, it is hard to meet local students and many will find that they meet more international students than anyone else. The key is joining the uni social clubs and societies to really get to know British students.

To travel cheaper, you need a young rail card. And for short distances, it's better to travel by bus. There is the nationalexpress bus which much more cheaper, if you have got time.
