Iowa City is a laid back liberal town. If you get there in time for the outdoor jazz festivaland cinema nights do not miss them. The bar street,or streets! was a welcoming atmosphere for allstudents. There are lots of coffee houses to go during the day and the food is second to none in price and quality.

For grad students there aren't a lot of options unfortunately. Probably the Deadwood or Joe's place if you don't like posh environments. Otherwise, nothing
