The library is not very up to date. I advice you either to buy or to copy the book that is recommended during the lecture. Sometimes Maltese students get together and copy the book. You can always asked if they can copy one more. There is an update bookstore under the canteen. Here you can almost always find the relevant, last edition books. Close to the university ground there is a second hand bookstore. Many students go there in their first University days. If you like to get your books very cheap, try to be first. Some lecturers are very helpful and are easy to contact by email or even telephone. Try to see as much of this island as you can. Go together with a group of students and get a hostel which will make it cheaper.

More about the scope of the course. It was very intensive and the instructors really knew their stuff.

High. It is a very traditional university founded just before Harvard. It is Ivy-league type but the professors and students are very friendly and helpful. Lectures seem to be less interactive than I was used to, but that was not a problem. The Maltese are happy to speak English, unlike the people in some other European countries.

Take lots of sun-screen and enjoy the beaches and the water. Read up on the history before you go. I had no idea just how much had happened there, from pre-Roman to WW II. Book tickets for the Hypergeum well in advance - it's a 7,000 year old underground temple, still intact and quite fantastic.

Having maltese friends can be useful, don't stick only with international students. Winter can be quite cold so do not take summer clothes only.

Philosophy, 2019
Overall
Currently, I am studying English and Philosophy within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta. I deem that the system is organised and gives the student a boost in their academic studies. The facilities are not that extensive but for my course, I am satisfied with the general upkeep and organization of the library. Being an avid reader, I tend to look for books frequently so I value their discipline in keeping the shelves organized with a student-friendly environment.

Very thorough course about all the areas of International Relations, including expanding our knowledge on foreign policy, EU studies, global studies, IR theories, the environment, history and many more. The IR department was also very helpful and all lecturers were kind and knew their areas very well.
