Malta is an island country and very expensive one. Its lira is one of the most expensive currencies in the world. Maltese islands are mostly rocks so agriculture developed badly. Plus no oil or gas and other stuff. So they have to ship almost everything into the state. Housing though isalmost the same as the appartment in Kyiv. Nightlife is cheaper because the entance to all the clubs is free and drinks are not that expensive as well. Travelling took less coz it is possible go everywhere by bus which is cheap and the trip will not be long at all.

Check out www.smart.com.mt for an idea of food prices. Vegetables/Meat is cheaper if you buy them from the little shops/stands that are everywhere.

Since some categories become more important while being away from home. Next to that, Malta is focused on tourism and thus prices are more expensive.

Get 'week money' from cash dispensers. Since your could pay an extra amount to get money from dispensers with your own (national) bank card.
