Toronto caters for everyone's tastes; movies, plays, sport events. As for the food, there's a variety in restaurants representing the different ethic cultures. There's a nice and casual place for brunches on Bloor called Curiosity and i really appreciated the pub Kalendar on Queen. Lattes and hot apple ciders are exquisite in winter.

Food is quite affordable here and very multicultural. You can eat a meal of plenty of food for just $5 or 6 dollars. Local phone calls are free of charge. However, taxes on drinks are really high here and any drinks at night are very expensive. For example, a glass of wine in a restaurant can cost you $5 dollars!

Pourquoi?
Because the residences were convenient and fantastic. I lived at Pavillon Charles De Konick......or something like that. It's the largest residence. The rooms were good. But more than anything the kitchen are was AMAZING!!! There are huge dining areas, incredible cooking facilities, and large lockers for your ktichen stuff. It's great. And the bus stop that takes you directly to the Old City is right outside your door. Besides, many people chose a host family hoping they would have interaction with them only to discover they lived almost in a separate apartment within their house. Separate entrance and everything. They didn't even eat meals together. The kitchen facilites were great for cutting costs. The University restaurants/cafeterias can get really expensive. We spent like $8 for breakfast the first day......just for a croissanwich and tomato juice!!!

The accomodations were great. I chose to live at the co-ed building and it was the best choice. The female one was the further away...........not only that but they didn't have their own cooking or laundry facilities. ALL we had to do was go downstairs!

We really liked going down to the Old city and hanging around. Anything from going down to the pier to hanging out on the boardwalk in front of the Chateau Frontenac. Although, I never went there is this club on the Grande Allee which is really popular: Chez Dagobert. There are some excellent places to eat in Quebec. Be warned that eating here is an experience. It's not uncommon to spend 3 hours in a restaurant! Also, get the table d'hote. These are set menus and they seem a bit more expensive but they are totally worth it. Also, QC is definitely a city of festivals. There is always something going on!!! During the summer there is the Festival d'ete. They have open air concerts and stuff. You pay $8 and that gets you into anything!!! They get good acts too......while we were there they had Zebda (they are a French group that had the #1 song in the city at the time) and Great Big Sea. The festivals are loads of fun and a really inexpensive way to have a good time!!
