I wish I had known...
Expect to make friendships with Swedes slowly, however once you've made them you can also exp[ect them to be better friends than a lot of the other ones you'll make..

to go from Uppsala to Stockholm is better to buy a bus card for 10 travels. If you have a choice you'd better to chooose Basic Hotel, then Flugsta (which is too far)

always save up/prepare more money than you think you need, because of travels and holidays. also google up "The Helping Hand", a second hand shop down south of Uppsala which sells EVERYTHING!

Housing
Type of housing: A room exchange
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: A room exchange
Why?
I enjoyed the company of other students and since I am in Sweden I want to meet Swedish people.

I shared a studentflat at Flogsta with 11 other people, 10 Swedish and 1 Roemanian guy. We shared the kitchen and tv-room, while I had my own room and bathroom. My room gave me the privacy I needed and the bathroom was a real comfortable experience. The room was well isolated which made studying easy. On the other hand you have company by just walking out your room.
In short, I was pleased with my accommodation.
Note: I did have really nice flatmates but that does not always have to be the case. I was lucky there.

Studentlife in Uppsala happens mainly within the studentnations. There is a nation for each region in Sweden. The nation is run by students who take care of there fellow students. The nations becomes your second home. The parties at the nations are amazing. The week is horizontally programmed, so each nation has its dance, disco or pub evening. That also goes for Fika (tea, coffee and snacks in the afternoon), movie-evenings , etc.
Without the nations sweden is to expensive for going out.
the thing not to miss, is a real gasque. A fancy dinner-evening with nice food, drinks, singing and afterwards dancing.
