Housing
Type of housing: A room exchange
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: A room exchange
Why?
Because I had a great time there. I was living in a corridor with 12 students more, so I could have a lot of new experience and also the chance to know different cultures pretty well.

I think was perfect. Exchange students were living at Flogsta (neighbourhood 10 min. from Uppsala centrer). It was very nice riding my bycicle everyday and the landscape around the area. Also was a district with an active night time.

Even though a a little bit out of the way from downtown Uppsala, Flogsta added to my overall exchange experience.

Housing
Type of housing: Dorm type setting
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Although it would have been nice to have housing closer to classes (I was in Flogsta), I may have missed the opportunity to share this experience with those in my corridor. With friends from many different countries just next door, it was as if the world was just a few steps away.

The actual rooms were basic and quite small, however being in that kind of environment made the tradeoff well worth it.

It varies quite widely. There are student accomodation sites spread around town. I would recommend Kantorsgatan because it is located closer to the centre of town, although the parties are at Flogsta.

I booked it through Uppsala University half year before arriving with a certificated letter. When I arrived I had no room. I had to go to live in Flogsta for 1 month with one friend waiting for one room. Thay did not allow us to use the main entrance because it was not convinient for the image of the Basic Hotel though it was not written in the contract and we were paying either way 2500 SKR every month. It was another place to accommodate called Flogsta, Swedish students used to call it as "The Ghetto". 2000 people gather together, most of them foreigners. Price 1800SKR
