The accommodatation situation for students in Paris, is for the moment rather scarce. Considering this I think the University has done an excellent job in finding accommodation at appropriate prices.

A good neighborhood to live in in Paris. I also wish I had studied my French a bit harder

AUP is wonderful academically. It's in an upper class neighborhood so there isn't much to do around the school, but transit is wonderful in Paris. Only thing is it's very small so it can be quite cliquey. And it's very easy to avoid speaking French.

AUP rocks. Go there. Paris rocks. Go there. And from Paris you can get anywhere in Europe when it comes time for vacationing.

The french are mean and pretend that they don't understand French unless you speak it perfectly..it takes awhile to get used to their attitude..But in the end, you learn to have an attitude and not to put up with crap from the french!!

Personally, I had most of my social life outside the university with friends from France. However, what was good, was the diversity in the cultural background of the student. really an international environment.

Enjoy that you are in the middle of Europe and take the time to see the country and if you have the chance, other parts of Europe. Take time to get to know the city and the people, not just hang around campus and with the students but explore different sides of the city. It has so much to offer!

I wish I had studied another language besides French so I could talk with more people at AUP in their native language.

Recruit more boys! The school is very heavily girl-populated.

The school is small and homey. Take advantage of the seminars and conferences that are held here. There's some awesome speakers that get invited. Jane Goodall came last year, for example. Also, read some of the student journals like Scripta, Convergence, etc. It's really interesting to see different points of view from an international perspective.

That they do not allow you to study in French institutions no matter what your language proficiency, simply because they insist you have two years of american university before entering a French university. That academics are not a priority at all for the majority of students there.

I would recommend it to someone who is not eager to encounter real French culture, and would prefer to live in a small American community within Paris that always wants to party.

Paris is a wonderful city to be in. If you can wait the two years to study in a French university (or are not interested at all), go for it. There is no campus which makes it more difficult to connect with people. The professors seem pretty good (at least when I was there). But don't expect the student population to be interested in learning...
