Housing
Type of housing: a youth hostel
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: youth hostel
Why?
Despite all the disadvantages, I enjoyed staying there because it allowed me to meet so many people and make great friends. At the end of the session, all AUP students staying at the hostel became like a one big family.

During summer session I we stayed at the FIAP, which was pretty far from the university. It was clean, the food was good, but the rooms were too tight. In summer session II we stayed at the MDE which was closer to the university. The rooms were much bigger, but the cleanliness level was bad, and so was the food. Still I would recommend AUP housing if it's your first time in Paris, since it is very difficult to find a place in the summer.

If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
The only problem with my apartment was that it was tiny and in a very quiet quarter without many amenities, although it was only a ten minute walk from the school.

The housing people were extremely helpful, but before going to Paris I would do a little research on the type of neighborhood you would like to live in. They aren't all student friendly, i.e. with cafes, internet, grocery, laundry, bars.

The accommodatation situation for students in Paris, is for the moment rather scarce. Considering this I think the University has done an excellent job in finding accommodation at appropriate prices.

I enjoyed this building, in Geneva! It was RIGHT down the street, from Le Gare Cornivin -- perfect for "we Americans" without cars!

Accomodation can be costly or inconvinient or both, but that is typical for Paris.
