Coming to Spain i could say the basic words, and the fact that i speak French fluently made it a lot easier for me to understand Spainish. But i really thought that after a semester here i would be much fluent. I really believe the reason that did not happen, is the reason that i live with other people that are speaking english and at school everyone speaks english also.

I would evaluate the teachers. My spainsh teacher (I think his name was Ahern) was the Worst. I also think that the teachers were very understanding in regards to the international students. They were very flexable when it came to time off to travel.

I live in the Flora Residence. It is located in the perfect area, about 4 blocks from Sol and Grand Via. The facilities here are reasonable, we have a living room with a cable tv and 24 hour access to the internet, which is rare for places in Spain. The rooms are small but good enough.

My experience at Suffolk University was incredible! The academic aspect was great and the cultural aspect was even greater! The university offers a wide variety of courses. I never expected that I would take Business and Marketing courses in Spain, but it was well worth it! The professors are very passionate about their subject and are also very knowledgable. Besides academics, the university also allowed its students to travel to other parts of Spain, which was invaluable. You get to see beautiful sights and really get a feel for Spanish culture.

Everone here, students and faculty included, is extremely friendly and helpful. I was extremely nervous about coming here, but my fears were quickly put to rest.

Study abroad is an experience that I would not trade for anything. If you get the opportunity to do it, then you should. Take advantage of all the opportunities that you have. Travel, experience the night life, and everything else that your host country has to offer.

I wish I had known...
just that I should have done it for an entire year, instead of just one semester! I regret not staying longer. When an oppurtunity arises, take it for all it's worth, because before you know it you will realize the beauty of adventure and culture throughout the world.

I really enjoyed it. It was hard for me becuase a lot of people already knoew each other and came together, because it stemmed from a University out of Boston, but I managed to meet some wonderful people. Also, the faculty was great! I met some of the most amazing people, especially Paco Frisuelos, who is the assitant director of student services, he is a great teacher and is a great help to all of the students.

Definitely go!!! Also, i would go individually and not with other people because it alters the way you see and experience things. I am so much more independent and have learned a great deal about surviving on my own. It was a growing experience and was really difficult at first and now all I want to do is go back!! If you can, go for a whole year, because otherwise, I can almost guarantee you will be having Spain withdrawals!! It was so far, the greatest experience of my life.
