Not really. You cannot prepare yourself. I am glad I did not make any expectations or assume what it would be like. I just let it all in and enjoyed myself!

This university will make you feel right at home. Everyone (especially Paco, who is a personal assistent to every student) will do anything it takes to make you comfortable. It is unforgettable. The people are wonderful, the classes are small, and the professors are brilliant.

I strongly recommend chosing Suffolk University Madrid campus because you are within a small, close-knit environment yet still have the freedom to branch out and expose yourself to Madrid. My best advice would be to chose a school such as Suffolk University because you have the cogent support of the staff and students and still have the ability to be totally independent.

The professors didn't have us pay too much attention to the texts, I almost with I hadn't bought them. And then you can't even sell them back.

Some courses were very strong, especially the Spanish Cultural Studies course. It would have been nice had there been some more options. I recommend students take as many classes as they can in Spanish.

I wish I had known...
The school is VERY small and there are a lot of americans there, that had its good and bad sides. It gets VERY cold in the winter time (I am from FL:) Bring an IPOD. Watch your weight, Spanish food and all the drinking really adds up!! Exercise!! Embrace everything every minute!!

I have really gone into a lot in the other essay areas, but just do everything. Trust me there's time. Don't sleep. You don't need to. While in Madrid I learned how to work under pressure because there was so much to do only so much could be studying. Studying in Madrid was the best experience of my life and I have gone on 2 other study abroad trips. GO GO GO. Save up your money while you are home and then go and GO BIG!! Suerte

Definitely take advantage of travelling. Go to as many places as you can and don't make friends with only Americans. Get to know Spaniards, get out of your "comfort zone." Try every different kind of food you can, go to flamenco shows, the different festivals, and take lots of pictures, but i would get them developed in America. OH and pack light!

Excellent, the programs put together are great and so are the coordinators and teaachers! They go out of their way to help you feel more confortable and to help you to understand. Classes are good because of who teaches them. It is more of a small envioornment, so you get to know everyone then are able to branch out into the culture to get the full experience.
