I have also lived in Student Village for over a month, it was quite OK, too. The apartments there are being renovated, however if you get apartment in the older part, you will be sharing kitchen with other people. Student Village is much closer to the university, one saves money on bus tickets - unless you intend to cycle to school every day. Although I must say that not everywhere you can have a chance to ride your bike in -27 Celsius! It was fun!

Awesome experience as you get to know people from all over the world as well as Finns. The cost is much lower than a standard appartment and you are surrounded by people constantly.

although it could have been better I must say that everything worked properly and my bedroom was warm and comfortable. Depending on the place you live in the student village you will find different experiences. I lived close to school but some other appartments are very far and you need a travel card (no use using a bike during the winter if you are not a tough Finn)

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
there are many exchange students around, it has been a great experience to get to know them and to learn more about their countries and culture. It is also a pleasant moment when we meet in the common kitchen and chat about everything. One never feels lonely.

Compared to my home country the costs for housing here are very high,on the other hand I have my own room and bathroom so when I need to study I there is noone to disturbe me, so I can concentrate well.

Quite good, rooms and houses in Yo-Kylä need to be renovated, some of them are already renovated. Kitchen was not the best experience. To live in Halliskylä or Ritzinkuja is more comfortable (shared flats by three persons).

you can choose between a single room in the student village (yo-kylä) or sharing your room with others (cheaper but further from the city centre).

Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I'm used to living independently I mean out of the campus. I makes you feel free and a part of the whole society (not only part of the student society).
