My native language is spanish and I speak a little french, so it was very easy reading Catalan, but hearing is a little more complicated. If you can't understand catalan just tell them and they'll immediately switch to Spanish.

It was difficult because they are constantly trying to persuade you to drop Spanish and take on Catalan language classes.
