I believe the University of Utrecht is avery good one. Firstly, Academicaly speaking, I was very satisfied for the efficiency one the one hand and the flexibilty on the other. For those who wish to participate in a certain University social life they have this possibility. htere are associations of students and one that is especially aimed at exchange students: ESN.

Utrecht is a very agreable city to live in and to learn in. If you have a chance to settle your accomodation in advance, I warmly advice you to do so. I had very good accomodation during the first three months. However at the moment I have to move places which, regardless of the nuisance it mght bring, is a place which is not as good as the first one where I could live more independently.

Studying three units would be too intensive and that two units in the social sciences department is more than enough

I have studied at an American university as well as an Australian university. The academic experience at Utrecht was not to be compared. Interactive classes, challenging articles and course work and fun teaching and lecturing tecniques

Utrecht is fun and bustling. The town has a fantastic vibrancy and youthfulness that is contagiuos - this is juxtoposed with a very historic and quaint city. Both aspects seem to compliment each other perfectly for some odd reason. As for travel tips unfortunately i am one of the few Australians to come to a European city and not travel around to other countries, to tell you the truth i was completey content staying in Utrecht itself and expereincing teh Dutch culture and great atmosphere - There was always some event/action to keep you involved with the city.

Do not close up to yourself. Try to open yourself and accept a different culture to the one you are used to. If not you will only manage to put a negative phychology on yourself and you will get homesick very quickly!

A study that has fulfilled all my wishes and more

Overall
My Bachelor's was in Economics and Business Economics, and I cannot explain how well fitting it was to my dreams and ambitions for my future career. After having completed both Economics and Business as a course in A Levels, I have always wanted to  pursue both the subjects and Utrecht University allowed just that.

With most mandatory courses being more weighed on an Economics perspective we had a wide range of options to choose from for our selective courses within both Economics and Business. It was honestly the best of both worlds. I have weighed most my selective courses on Entrepreneurship, strategy, marketing and innovation as well as public sector economics.

But it did not end just there. We were allowed to pick from four different dedicated minors which adds upto 45/180 of our credits being for our minor alongside our thesis also having to be about the dedicated minor with that being an extra 15 credits. I was lucky enough to pick my minor in the field of Law which provided us with courses based on EU and International law and corporate/consumer/market law alongisde the economic view of law.

This was the best 6 months of my life. Get involved with things, go out and meet people, take classes with Dutch people...you will not regret it if you study here! It is such a beautiful city and country and there is a lot to do and the people are great.

Do things with the ESN group there, get a mentor...its a great way to meet people at the beginning of your stay. Don't stick with people from your own country- go meet other international students if you can! You went there to get away from your own country and culture, meet and integrate with others! As far as traveling, train is great...but check out cheap airlines: easyjet, ryanair, etc...and Eurolines bus lines.
